MANILA, Philippines — Weather will be cloudy over Luzon on Christmas Day with at times torrential rains over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao due to the shear line, the state weather bureau said yesterday.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the shear line will bring heavy to at times torrential rains over Eastern Visayas and the Dinagat Islands.

It will also bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over the rest of the Visayas and the Zamboanga Peninsula in Mindanao.

The rest of Mindanao may also have isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned of possible flashfloods and landslides during heavy rains.

It said that the northeast monsoon has gained strength and will bring cloudy skies and cold winds over parts of Luzon today.

PAGASA said the northeast monsoon is affecting the eastern sections of Luzon.

It will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora and Quezon.

It will also affect Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon with light rains, but no significant impact is expected.
