MANILA, Philippines — To help families affected by severe tropical storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae), the European Union is providing €200,000 or over P11 million in humanitarian funding.
It is part of the EU’s contribution to the Disaster Response Emergency Fund of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. According to a statement from the EU, the aid will help as much as 32,500 individuals in the worst-hit areas.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s final situational report showed that over 1.473 million families and 5.982 million individuals were affected by Paeng across the country.
Cost of damage to agriculture was around P7.214 billion, while damage to livestock, poultry and fisheries was estimated to reach around P1.553 billion.
The storm left 164 dead, 270 injured and 28 individuals missing.
