MANILA, Philippines — To further foster closer ties between the United States and the Philippines, US Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit the country next month.
US Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced that Harris would travel to Manila after participating in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on Nov. 18 to 19.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said it is looking forward to welcoming Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff in Manila.
“This will be yet another excellent opportunity to further strengthen our engagement with the United States, following the recent high-level meetings and exchange of visits between our two countries,” the DFA said.
At present, the DFA is coordinating closely with the US embassy in Manila on finalizing arrangements for the working visit of the US Vice President and her spouse.
It said it will share more details on Harris’ impending visit in the coming days.
