MANILA, Philippines — Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court Branch 197 presided by Judge Ricardo Moldez II will handle the drug possession case against Juanito Remulla III, eldest son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
The case was raffled to Moldez’s sala yesterday a week after the cancellation of the original raffle schedule.
Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and members of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group in Las Piñas City arrested the younger Remulla on Oct. 11 after he received a delivery of P1.3 million worth of high-grade marijuana, weighing almost 900 grams.
He was arrested in a controlled delivery operation, wherein enforcers allowed the completion of the delivery and used it as basis for Remulla’s arrest.
Aside from possession of illegal drugs, Remulla is also facing drug importation cases.
The Pasay City prosecutor’s office earlier created a special panel of prosecutors to conduct a preliminary investigation on Remulla’s drug importation cases.
The justice secretary had earlier promised not to intervene in the cases but rejected calls for his resignation.
