MANILA, Philippines — Disaster response officials said 44 people were injured in the magnitude-6.4 earthquake that struck Abra on Tuesday night.

Of the 44 hurt, 32 were from the Cordillera Administrative Region, according to a situation report by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council released Thursday.

Meanwhile, 12 more were injured in the Ilocos Region, the NDRRMC said.

The disaster response agency said 61,514 people or 18,478 families were affected by the tremor that shook the same areas as the magnitude-7.0 quake just four months earlier.

Among them are 76 people who are still in evacuation centers, according to the NDRRMC.

Five localities reported power interruption but electricity supply has since been restored in these cities and municipalities.

The NDRRMC also estimated that the temblor damaged a total of P52.74 million in infrastructure, with the CAR recording the bulk of damage at P30.82 million, followed by Ilocos region at P21.15 million and Cagayan Valley region at P768,000. — Xave Gregorio
