LPA to develop into cyclone
MANILA, Philippines — The trough of a low-pressure area east of the Visayas is bringing rains in some parts of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 3 p.m. yesterday, the low-pressure area was spotted 815 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. It was forecast to develop into a tropical depression before Friday and will be named Paeng.
State weather forecasters said Paeng could intensify further into typhoon category.
Paeng’s trough is bringing scattered rainshowers over Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, a shearline is dumping scattered rains over Bicol, Calabarzon, Central Luzon and Metro Manila as well as in Mindoro provinces, Marinduque and Romblon.
The shearline and the inter-tropical convergence zone may bring moderate to heavy to at times torrential rains over Aurora and Quezon as well as Eastern Visayas.
Light to moderate to at times heavy rain will prevail over Apayao, Cagayan, Isabela as well as in Caraga, rest of Central Luzon, Central Visayas and Northern Mindanao.
The northeast monsoon is affecting Cagayan Valley, the Cordilleras and Ilocos Region.
