More activities set for Philippine-France 75th anniversary celebration
MANILA, Philippines — The year-long program celebrating the 75th anniversary of the formal establishment of Philippine-France relations is not over, with more activities of the French embassy in Manila to celebrate the bond that the two countries share and to set the tone for new and deeper interactions in the next years.
In the continuing celebration of the 75th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations, French Ambassador Michèle Boccoz said more events – mostly in the fields of culture, movies and the arts – are lined up to celebrate the milestones achieved in the bilateral ties between the two countries and serve as occasions for Filipinos to learn more about France and its rich ties with the Philippines.
Diplomatic relations between France and the Philippines were formalized with the signing of the Treaty of Amity by then Philippine vice president and foreign affairs secretary Elpidio Quirino and French foreign affairs minister Georges Bidault in Paris on June 26, 1947.
For more than seven decades, France and the Philippines have deepened and broadened ties in several areas such as economic cooperation, climate action and cultural action.
The French embassy said the 75th anniversary of Philippine-France ties is an occasion to celebrate the many facets of their long-standing relationship through a rich and diverse program of activities organized throughout 2022.
