MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather is expected by the weekend over most parts of the country after severe Tropical Storm Luis exited the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said there are no weather disturbances being observed inside the archipelago.

Luis intensified into a severe tropical storm before it left the Philippine area at 9 a.m. yesterday.

The cyclone, last monitored 1,200 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, is expected to continue moving northward.

Luis could further intensify into a typhoon category as it moves east of the Ryukyu islands, carrying maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph.

PAGASA said the intertropical convergence zone was affecting southern Mindanao.

While generally fair weather is expected, isolated rain showers may be seen in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

Temperatures in Metro Manila will range between 25 to 32 degrees Celsius today.
