More monsoon rains in NCR until Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila is forecast to continue experiencing more rainfall today and tomorrow, but weather is expected to improve by Thursday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon is affecting the National Capital Region as well as some areas in the western section of Central and Southern Luzon.

No low-pressure area or new weather disturbance, however, has been sighted inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility as of yesterday.

PAGASA noted that despite the monsoon rains in Metro Manila, most parts of the country are forecast to have fair weather conditions in the next three days.

The state weather bureau said there will still be chances of partly cloudy to cloudy skies that will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Flight cancellations

Meanwhile, the Media Affairs Division of the Manila International Airport Authority announced that eight Manila-Japan-Manila flights operating at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport have been cancelled due to bad weather in Japan.

As of 12:45 p.m. yesterday, Philippine Airlines cancelled six flights: PR 438/437 Manila-Nagoya-Manila, PR 426/425 Manila-Fukuoka-Manila and PR 412/411 Manila-Osaka-Manila.

Cebu Pacific cancelled two flights: 5J 828/827 Manila-Osaka-Manila after a rare special warning, issued as violent Typhoon Nanmadol hit southwest Japan with 150 mph winds. – Rudy Santos
