MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather is expected over most parts of the country today as Super Typhoon Josie moves further away from the Philippine area of responsibility.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon has also weakened but could still affect the western sections of Southern Luzon.
The monsoon may still bring moderate with at times heavy rains over Occidental Mindoro and Palawan.
Localized thunderstorms may also affect Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Palawan by Monday.
Josie entered the Philippine area of responsibility at 5:40 p.m. and left about 10 p.m.
Latest monitoring showed that Josie, international name Nanmadol, was 1,265 kms northeast of extreme Northern Luzon as of yesterday.
It was carrying maximum sustained winds of 195km/h and gustiness of up to 240 km/h.
