LPA approaches Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Even before Typhoon Inday could exit the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) spotted another low-pressure area (LPA) heading toward Northern Luzon.
The LPA, which is yet to enter the Philippine area of responsibility, may develop into a tropical storm within the next three days. It was last sighted yesterday at 2,255 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.
PAGASA said Typhoon Inday (Muifa) is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by tomorrow morning or afternoon and head in the direction of Taiwan.
The typhoon, it added, is getting stronger and moving slower at 330 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It is heading west northwest at 10 kilometers per hour.
Though Inday is no longer bringing rain to Northern Luzon, the southwest monsoon or habagat is forecast to bring rain showers and thunderstorms to Batanes and the western sections of Northern Luzon.
