MANILA, Philippines — To make National Teachers’ Month felt by all public school teachers, the Department of Education (DepEd) is giving each of them a P1,000 cash incentive this September.
“We will continue to grant a P1,000 incentive to honor our teachers,” DepEd spokesman Michael Poa said partly in Filipino at Thursday’s joint press briefing with the Office of the Vice President.
Poa said Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte stressed the important role of teachers in the development of the country and the formation of its youth.
Apart from the cash incentive, the DepEd vowed to find a solution to the problems and grievances of teachers.
“We will not get tired of listening to their grievances,” Poa said in Filipino. “We may not offer a solution overnight, but in the next few weeks addressing all their problems is really the aspiration of the Department of Education.”
