Locsin named ambassador to UK
MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has appointed former foreign affairs secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. as ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles confirmed yesterday the appointment of Locsin, which Marcos signed on Aug. 30.
As ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland, Locsin also has jurisdiction over Ireland, Isle of Man, Bailiwick of Jersey, and Bailiwick of Guernsey.
He is granted with the salary emoluments of a Chief of Mission, Class I.
A former lawmaker and journalist, Locsin served as secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the country’s permanent representative to the United Nations under the Duterte administration.
Locsin also served as speechwriter and press secretary to the late president Corazon Aquino.
