MANILA, Philippines — Workers who opted not to report yesterday, Ninoy Aquino Day, would not be getting any pay, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) said.

“No work, no pay” policy shall apply during a special non-working holiday, just like yesterday, the NWPC declared.

Unless there is a company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement granting payment on special days, the no work, no pay policy shall be applied, it stressed.

But the NWPC said work performed on a special non-working holiday merits additional compensation of at least 30 percent of the basic wage or a total of 130 percent.

“Work performed on a special day falling on a rest day… merits an additional compensation of at least 50 percent of the basic wage or a total of 150 percent,” it added.

Additional pay is prescribed during the special non-working holiday on Aug. 21, which has been declared as Ninoy Aquino Day.
