MANILA, Philippines — Another member of the Senate has tested positive for COVID, but Sen. Imee Marcos was still able to attend yesterday’s session virtually despite a raging fever.
Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri said other senators are praying for her immediate recovery, while acknowledging her online attendance in the session.
Aside from Marcos, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 last Wednesday.
Yesterday, the Senate started implementing strict health protocols on the premises and will require guests and visitors to present a negative antigen test result taken within 24 hours.
Zubiri ordered Senate Secretary Rey Bantug to oversee the implementation of health protocols.
Bantug said they would finalize the amended guidelines for Senate guests and visitors.
Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III, meanwhile, said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases should be dissolved.
“Let the Department of Health monitor and manage the country’s COVID-19 cases,” he said.
