MANILA, Philippines — After his reappointment as executive director of the Commission on Population and Development (PopCom), Juan Antonio Perez III will present before President Marcos a new population policy based on family and population development indicators.
“In these policies, stable population growth rate, single-digit population poverty rate and zero hunger at household levels will be the center of the Philippine population and development program years 2022-2028,” Perez said in a statement.
“Key policies on family planning for all and a living wage policy which addresses regional poverty thresholds will be pursued by PopCom from the start,” he added.
Perez, who took his oath last July 1 before new PopCom board chair Dr. Grace Cruz, stressed that his retention in the post would ensure a continued implementation of the country’s reproductive health and family planning programs.
He gave assurance of an uninterrupted implementation of family planning programs as he noted that PopCom would continue to advocate for Filipino families’ improved quality of life through decent living wages.
