MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is working on a printable version of the national ID as the incoming administration wants most Filipinos to be issued the ID by yearend.
“The PSA is currently working on increasing the production of the physical ID cards currently printed at the BSP (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) and will launch the printable version of the national ID that can be printed at the PSA registration centers,” national statistician Dennis Mapa said.
“This will increase the number of registrants with national ID: physical or the printable,” he added.
Mapa has yet to provide details as to when the rollout of the printable national ID will begin.
Originally, Mapa said about 28 million physical national ID cards are targeted for printing by end-2022, the rest are printable versions with a mobile ID that can be accessed through an app.
