Approaching LPA to bring rain in Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — Some parts of Mindanao may experience more rainfall in the next three days due to an approaching low-pressure area that might enter the Philippine area of responsibility.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in a weather update yesterday, said this weather disturbance has a low chance of developing into a typhoon.

However, the LPA, last sighted 1,075 kilometers east-southeast of Mindanao, may bring rains to some areas including the Davao region, South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos City.

PAGASA said it would continue to monitor the weather disturbance and will issue necessary advisories and warnings when necessary.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to affect the western sections of Luzon and Visayas and is forecast to bring more rainfall in the provinces of Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales and Bataan.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will continue to experience localized thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon to evening.

PAGASA, in a three-day weather outlook, said the rest of Visayas and Mindanao would also experience localized thunderstorms.
