MANILA, Philippines — More than 10 million Filipinos have received their national ID cards nationwide.

Project implementer Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said a total of 10.55 million cards were already delivered by PhlPost, the official delivery partner of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

This is 33.7 percent of the target for 2022 which is for the delivery of 33.8 million national ID cards.

“We anticipate for more Filipinos to receive their national ID cards. PSA will continue to bring forward PhilSys services to make government and private services easily and conveniently accessible to the public,” deputy national statistician Rosalinda Bautista said.

PSA continues to ramp up the rollout of the third and final step of the national ID which includes the issuance of PhilSys number and delivery of physical ID cards.

It was in May last year when the PSA started delivery of the ID cards.

The delivery of national ID is estimated at six months after an individual completes the step two registration.

The PSA reminded registrants to refrain from posting their national ID cards on social media to safeguard their personal information.

In another development, the PSA has partnered with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) to ensure that indigenous communities will have their national IDs.

The PSA inked a memorandum of agreement with the NCIP as part of efforts to make registration easily accessible to IPs through mobile registration sites.

The PSA recently rolled out a mobile registration initiative in Porac, Pampanga to accommodate Aeta communities in Barangays Camisa, Villa Maria, Inararo, Diaz and Sapang Uwak.

Additional activity was conducted in Floridablanca, Pampanga, where 254 members of the area’s Aeta community were registered.

So far, some 10,972 members of indigenous communities such as Ratagnon, Hanunuo, Gubatnon, Tao Buid and Iraya were successfully registered to PhilSys.

Meanwhile, PSA said those who are awaiting the delivery of their national IDs are encouraged to keep their transaction slip which will be presented upon the delivery of the IDs.

The PSA will also launch a mobile version of the national ID as a digital alternative to the physical card to maximize its use in digital transactions.

The national ID aims to promote and improve the seamless delivery of public and social services, enhance administrative governance, reduce corruption, strengthen financial inclusion, and promote ease of doing business.
