P25 a day for The Philippine STAR
MANILA, Philippines — Following a round of increases in the price of newsprint and delivery costs, The Philippine STAR will be adjusting its cover price to P25 a copy starting Monday, May 16, 2022.
The STAR’s cover price has remained the same since 2008. Due to inflationary pressures, however, we are now constrained to adjust our cover price.
The price of newsprint has increased steadily since 2020, increasing by as much as 20 percent due mostly to the rising cost of raw materials. Newsprint prices went up twice in the past two months alone. Energy and fuel costs have likewise spiraled. Despite this, newspaper publishers have had to bear the costs in order not to pass on higher prices to its readers.
