MANILA, Philippines — Former police chief and senatorial candidate Gen. Guillermo Eleazar visited Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur where he was warmly received by the local people.
Eleazar made his first stop in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte with a motorcade, which was followed by a trip to a public market in Bangui.
After visiting vendors and market goers, Eleazar proceeded to Laoag City, Ilocos Norte with another motorcade and capped off his visit to Cabugao, Ilocos Sur with a street campaign attended by his supporters.
“I am General Eleazar and I am asking your help and trust. I served as a soldier and policeman for four decades. I stood for what is right because it is my principle – what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. I fight for what is right. I believe that you are one with me in this principle,” he said in Filipino.
“So now, I ask your support. Let me bring your trust in me and my 38 years of service to the Senate. I will show strength, hard work, sincere and dependable service – that I will guarantee in the Senate. I will fight for your day-to-day battle,” he said.
After courting voters in Southern Luzon last week, Eleazar has been on a roll in Northern Luzon this week.
Before, the Partido Reporma candidate was also in Cagayan, Isabela and Zambales in the past four days.
Eleazar’s legislative agenda focuses on improving peace and order and security in the country since he believes that a peaceful environment is a solid foundation for economic development.
He said that when communities are free from threats and harassment of terrorists, communist rebels and other lawless elements, businesses thrive even in far-flung areas.
