MANILA, Philippines — Associated with feisty soundbites this past week, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is still uncertain if he could attend the last of the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-organized debates next weekend, though he would try his best to make it.

The Comelec has moved the last episode of the “PiliPinas Debates 2022: The Turning Point” from its original schedule this weekend to April 30 and May 1.

Its partner Vote Pilipinas was reported to have an unpaid balance of P14 million to the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, the venue of the debates.

For his part, Moreno is already set on visiting two provinces on the new date of the debate.

In an interview in Caloocan City last Friday night, the Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer said he would give it his best effort to attend the Comelec-hosted debate.

“It’s sad that they had a setback. But maybe over the weekend, we could get some news from our Aksyon Demokratiko campaign team. We will try our best (to attend the debate),” Moreno said in a English and Filipino.

He said his campaign visits in two provinces have been finalized, but still he would see what adjustments could be made to fix the conflict in schedules.

“We are OK to attend (the debate), but for now I cannot say specifics,” Moreno said. “We’ll see how we can adjust.”
