1-Pacman lawmaker cited for achievements
MANILA, Philippines — House Deputy Speaker and 1-Pacman party-list Rep. Mikee Romero was conferred the “Honorary Congressman Of The Year” award by the non-profit organization Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards (NBMA) for his legislative accomplishments in Congress.
In conferring the award, the group said it picked Romero “for putting importance in creating employment to have a consistent stream of income.”
“He also devoted his time and effort in business and sports and advocated for its development to build a prosperous and united nation,” NBMA stressed.
Among the notable laws that Romero authored and cited by the group were the free tuition fee law, Universal Health Care law, Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law, establishment of the National Commission for Senior Citizens, extension of validity of passports to 10 years and amendment in Anti-Hazing law.
In accepting the award, Romero thanked the NBMA for recognizing his achievements and vowed to pursue his advocacies in the next Congress.
“I humbly thank the Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards for this recognition for our contributions to nation-building, especially at this crucial time of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This inspires me to even work harder for our constituents and beneficiaries of all our programs for the poor, the youth and the sick in need of assistance,” he vowed.
Among the other prominent awardees were Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez.
