Tulfo vows funds for Build, Build, Build, migrant workers
MANILA, Philippines — If elected in the May 9 general elections, senatorial aspirant and broadcaster/vlogger Raffy “Idol” Tulfo vowed to provide funding for projects of the Duterte administration, including the Build, Build, Build program.
In a radio interview, Tulfo stressed the importance of continuing the Duterte government’s infrastructure program.
A known advocate of overseas Filipino workers’ rights and welfare, Tulfo vowed to earmark sufficient funds for the Department of Migrant Workers so it could fulfill its mandate and functions under the law to protect the rights of OFWs.
If he wins a seat in the Senate, Tulfo promised permanent solutions to the problems being experienced by workers, OFWs and the underprivileged sectors of society.
“I think we need permanent solution and not band-aid solution. To do that, I will go to the Senate and pass legislation so once and for all, we find solutions to these problems,” he said.
In order to address problems regarding domestic labor issues, Tulfo said he would pass legislation making employers who fail to pay the proper wages and benefits to workers liable for wage theft.
Given the chance, Tulfo said he wants to head the committee on labor and employment and be actively involved in the committees on OFWs and public safety so he could monitor the abuses of police officers.
“I have to find a reason why we can’t stop the abuses of our police,” he said.
Aside from this, Tulfo wants to level the playing field for the poor when it comes to justice by beefing up the services of the Public Attorney’s Office.
