MANILA, Philippines (Corrected 6:18 p.m.) — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday said it has assisted 199 Filipinos in Ukraine to be evacuated to nearby countries, while nearly a third have been repatriated back to the Philippines.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Arriola said in a Twitter post that as of March 8, 5 p.m., 63 Filipinos have arrived in Manila. Meanwhile, 73 Filipinos were evacuated to Romania, 33 to Moldova, 15 Filipinos were brought to Hungary, nine to Austria, and six have been evacuated to Poland.

Earlier today, 21 crew members of the stranded M/V S-Breeze docked at Ukrain’s Ilyichevsk Ship Yard were repatriated.

On Monday, the department raised its crisis alert level in Ukraine to Alert Level 4.
“Under Crisis Alert Level 4, the Philippine Government undertakes mandatory evacuation procedures at government expense,” the DFA said.
Filipinos to be repatriated in Ukraine will receive assistance from the Philippine Embassy in Poland and the Rapid Response Team.
