‘BBM-Sara to reach fever pitch in Ilocos’
MANILA, Philippines — Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats president and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez expects the show of support for the BBM-Sara UniTeam to reach fever pitch after the “Mahalin Natin Ang Pilipinas Ride” (MNPR) rolled over to Ilocos Norte last Wednesday.
“The support for UniTeam that we saw recently in Isabela and Cagayan was awe-inspiring and we thank the local residents for that. But we’re now here in Ilocos Norte and this will no doubt be mind-blowing in terms of the outpouring of support,” Romualdez said.
Leading presidential candidate and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. traces his roots to the province, which hosted a rally for him and his running mate Lakas-CMD chair and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Wednesday night.
“This is what Solid North is all about. The Marcos name has captured the Ilocano vote; nothing is more formidable here and at the same time more loved by Filipinos in the region,” noted Romualdez.
“Add to this equation the ‘Eagle of Mindanao’ in Mayor Inday Sara, who brings her proven track record as Davao chief executive and her father’s legacy of service. This team is unbeatable and all our fellow Filipinos need to do is to unite with them,” said the Leyte 1st District representative.
The MNPR, which Duterte kicked off in Davao at the start of February, is primarily meant to spread the BBM-Sara tandem’s message of unity. Marcos and Duterte believe that unity will be the key factor in collectively pulling Filipinos out of the muck that resulted from the pandemic.
Marcos asked fellow Ilocanos to extend their solid support to Duterte on May 9 as he cited the importance of having a president and a vice president that are allied with each other to rid governance of political conflicts.
“So it’s very important that as we elect the president we should also give that president someone who would help and work – not someone who will fight but will do everything to ensure everything we do will be successful,” he said in Filipino.
