MANILA, Philippines — Vice presidential candidate Dr. Willie Ong yesterday said he does not intend to spend money for his campaign.

Ong said he would only use his Facebook account and tag along with his running mate Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

During the vice presidential interviews with dzBB, Ong stressed that he would not accept campaign money to be free of any debt of gratitude in crafting his policies if elected to office.?“I will have better decisions and I will have better chances of following the people’s advocacies because I am not indebted to anyone,” he said in Filipino.

The celebrity doctor, who lost his Senate bid in 2019, said he would campaign using his Facebook page, which has 16 million followers.

Ong said he could only avail himself of free publicity by tagging along with his running mate and joining the Aksyon Demokratiko Senate slate.

He explained that he does not need to spend money on any advertisements in traditional and online media.

“We can at least get free publicity there, but I have made it my policy not to accept money from businesses or drug company,” he said.

He would not also resort to negative campaigning against his rivals in the vice presidential race and vowed to help in Moreno’s pandemic response if they both win, he said.
