MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has endorsed the senatorial candidacy of Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro as she expressed confidence he would win in the May elections.

In her online program “Sara All for You,” Duterte-Carpio backed Teodoro, whom she described as “the one that got away” (TOTGA) when he lost in the presidential elections in 2010.

“He was the TOTGA in 2010,” she said when she referred to the former defense chief as one of the Senate candidates of the Uniteam led by her and her running mate, presidential candidate and former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“This time around, he will not be ‘the one that got away’ because with the help of all he would be a senator,” she said in Filipino.

Teodoro, a former Tarlac congressman, thanked Duterte-Carpio for endorsing him.
