UP, 14 other Philippine universities make Asia list
MANILA, Philippines — Fifteen Philippine universities were listed among the top universities in Asia, according to the 2022 QS Asia University Ranking.
The University of the Philippines kept its 77th place with an overall score of 50, followed by the Ateneo de Manila University at 124.
De La Salle University was ranked 160th while the University of Santo Tomas was at 177th spot.
Ateneo de Davao University, Mapua University and Silliman University were placed in the 501-550 bracket, followed by Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology in the 551-600 bracket.
Meanwhile, in the 601-650 bracket were the Central Luzon State University and Xavier University.
Adamson University, Cebu Technological University, Central Midnanao University, Central Philippine University and Lyceum of the Philippines University were placed in the 651+ bracket. This year’s ranking featured a total of 867 institutions.
The National University of Singapore was the number 1 ranked university, obtaining an overall score of 100.
It was followed by Peking University in Beijing, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, University of Hong Kong and the Tsinghua University also in Beijing.
China led with the most number of universities in the list, a total of 126, followed by India and Japan.
The ranking is based on 1,111 key indicators including academic and employer reputations, the number of staff holding PhD and the percentage of international students.
QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds, a UK company specializing in the analysis of higher education institutions around the world.
