Bongbong tops another survey

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has topped another preferential survey for the May 2022 elections.

In the latest non-commissioned Pulso ng Pilipino survey by research group Issues and Advocacy Center (The Center), the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer topped the list of preferred presidential candidates with a nationwide tally of 23.5 percent.

The nationwide survey was conducted among 2,400 respondents in the period from Sept. 27 to Oct. 8, the last day of filing of certificate of candidacy (COC).

But the poll did not include Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who led previous presidential surveys. Instead of filing her COC for president, she decided to seek reelection.

Marcos and Duterte-Carpio recently met in Cebu City, triggering speculations of their possible tandem with the President’s daughter running as vice president. Both camps, however, have neither confirmed nor denied a team-up was discussed.

The Center said it considers the 23.5 percent rating generated by Marcos as “very significant.”

In the survey, Sen. Manny Pacquiao placed second with 19.75 percent, followed by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno with 18 percent.

Vice President Leni Robredo placed fourth with 14 percent, followed by Sen. Panfilo Lacson in fifth with 12.5 percent.

Sen. Ronald dela Rosa is in sixth place with 7.75 percent, with Leody de Guzman in seventh with 3.25 percent.

Marcos also topped another survey after the COC filing – the 3rd Quarter Pahayag survey of PUBLiCUS Asia Inc. where he got a whopping 55.7 percent national rating.

Kalye Surveys conducted by independent YouTube vloggers in various parts of the country consistently showed him as the top choice for president in next year’s polls.

In reaction, Marcos believes that it is because of the support of his party and group supporters that he remains at the top of surveys.

“I am grateful to all of those who said they will vote for me. Thank you very much and I hope that come election, we will all be there to have our voices heard,” the son and namesake of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos said.
