MANILA, Philippines — Presidential spokesman Harry Roque Jr. has been admitted to hospital for treatment of COVID-19, possibly his second infection in the past month.

“I am now admitted in a hospital for COVID treatment,” Roque said, appealing to the public not to be lax when it comes to fighting the virus.

“This is to say that COVID-19 is more transmissible now so we have to do extra precaution,” he added.

Roque, who first tested positive on March 15, recovered from the disease on March 25. He has not been vaccinated since protocols dictate that infected patients must wait for 90 days before getting the jab.

He did not provide details on his latest health predicament but he has comorbidities such as diabetes and a heart condition.

Despite being hospitalized, he said he would still announce the risk classification of the National Capital Region Plus bubble which will be discussed in a meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Meanwhile, Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office has recovered from infection.

“I am pleased to share that I have fully recovered from COVID-19 after undergoing a 14-day home quarantine,” he said in a statement.
