Pope sends Christmas greetings to Pinoys
MANILA, Philippines — Archbishop Charles John Brown presided over his first Christmas Day mass as apostolic nuncio to the Philippines at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros yesterday and conveyed Pope Francis’ greeting to the Filipino faithful.
“I bring you of course the Christmas greetings of our Holy Father Pope Francis, who has a very special place in his heart for you, for the Filipino people,” Brown said before starting his homily.
Bishop Broderick Pabillo, apostolic administrator, concelebrated the mass.
Spending his first Christmas in the country, Brown noted the earthquake that occurred yesterday morning in Batangas and asked the faithful to pray for the safety of residents affected by the tremor.
Reminding parishioners to observe health protocols against COVID-19, he also sought prayers for an end to the pandemic.
“We also pray to God for an end to the scourge of the coronavirus, which has certainly affected the way we live and the way with which we interact and indeed the way we pray,” Brown said.
