MANILA, Philippines — La Niña may likely develop in the country by the end of September or early October, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday.

There is a 60 percent chance that La Niña phenomenon would develop by the end of next month and bring more than the usual rainfall, according to PAGASA weather forecaster Ariel Roxas.

The weather condition could persist until February 2021, even through the northeast monsoon or amihan season, Roxas said.

The state weather bureau has forecast that seven to 10 weather disturbances could visit the country until early next year.
