MANILA, Philippines — Tropical depression Gener will not significantly impact the country’s weather as it weakens into a low-pressure area today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

No tropical cyclone wind signal will be raised as Gener is expected to weaken as it moves westward of the Philippine area of responsibility.

The center of Gener was estimated at 870 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes yesterday morning.

Despite no direct impact from Gener once it weakens into a low-pressure area, the public and disaster risk reduction management councils are advised to take appropriate action.

The intertropical convergence zone is bringing clouds and scattered rains, moderate and at times heavy, in Southern Luzon, Mimaropa and the Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA warned that flashfloods or landslides could be possible due to heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.
