MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a statement released through social media yesterday, Revilla said he took the test after one of the members of his household and one of his staffers tested positive for the disease.

He is now in isolation and under observation.

“Don’t worry, I am OK. Lani and the kids are also OK. In God’s mercy, they all tested negative,” he said in Filipino.

Revilla said he was at the Senate on Monday and was out on Tuesday to observe the 40th day of the death of his father, former senator Ramon Revilla Sr., in June.

“As per my doctor’s advice, I will continue my quarantine, but I will be under observation,” he said.

“With your prayers and the grace of the Lord, I will overcome this. Thank you for your prayers,” he said.

Senators Miguel Zubiri, Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and Sonny Angara earlier tested positive for COVID-19.
