Go backs 2020 as Year of Filipino Health Workers
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go has expressed support for the Department of Health (DOH)’s call to declare 2020 as the “Year of Filipino Health Workers” as the country continues to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“I am expressing my full support to the recommendation of the Department of Health,” Go said.
The chairman of the Senate committee on health and demography said the public should recognize the hard work and dedication of health workers who serve as frontliners in the crisis facing the country today.
He cited the need to highlight the importance of the health workforce in every way the government can while continuously providing them with the necessary resources.
“While we are continuously fighting the COVID-19, let us give what our medical frontliners need to fulfill their duties,” Go said in Filipino.
The senator stressed that the best way to recognize the sacrifices of health workers is for the public to cooperate with authorities and comply with the guidelines set by health officials.
He said following health and safety protocols can save lives, especially those of the frontliners exposed to the coronavirus.
