90,215 workers displaced since January — DOLE
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 90,215 workers from 3,189 establishments have been displaced nationwide since January, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Based on DOLE’s Job Displacement Monitoring Report, 91 percent or 2,895 establishments reduced workforce while nine percent or 294 declared permanent closure.
The report was sourced from notices of shutdown and retrenchment filed by employers to DOLE regional offices.
The number of displaced workers per region are: National Capital Region, 45,046; Northern Mindanao, 2,173; Bicol, 520; Calabarzon, 17,805; Davao, 1,010; Caraga, 483; Central Luzon, 8,107; Western Visayas, 932; Soccsksargen, 357; Cordillera Administrative Region, 5,136; Cagayan Valley, 929; Mimaropa, 217; Central Visayas, 3,992; Eastern Visayas, 906; Zamboanga, 21 and Ilocos, 2,581.
DOLE said June tallied the highest number of establishments at 1,809 or 57 percent with 36,086 displaced workers, followed by February with 371 establishments or 12 percent with 30,712 displaced workers nationwide.
In terms of major industry group, most displaced workers were under administrative and support services at 31 percent or 28,192 and manufacturing at 11 percent or 10,260.
A total of 104,163 establishments covering 2,824,992 workers are currently implementing flexible work arrangements and temporary closure, DOLE reported
At least 23,855 establishments with 990,176 workers implemented flexible work arrangements while 82,086 establishments with 1,954,419 workers resorted to temporary closure.
