MANILA, Philippines — Every night starting Monday at 8 p.m., the country’s top musical artists will hold live concerts on Facebook in a unique project called Bayanihan Musikahan.

Spearheaded by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab – Mr. C – FB will host the nightly online concert that will last for two to three hours. The concert is expected to run for at least two weeks starting Monday.

The list of artists is impressively long and growing as artists from all over the world sign in – from Ice Seguerra to Lea Salonga, Jed Madela to The Company, Jaya to Celeste Legaspi. Classical singers like Rachelle Gerodias and Arthur Espiritu are  likewise joining in.

There is a contingent from Cebu, as well as artists from Mindanao. Since it is an online concert, the artists perform from their homes, whatever province, country or continent they are in.

The FB live concert is raising funds to help those severely affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Volunteers are set to deliver food and medicine, build barangay quarantine spaces staffed with medical workers in urban poor areas in Metro Manila and other mitigation measures to help those most vulnerable – such as daily wage earners – get through this crisis.

The Philippine Business for Social Progress will handle the donations.

Cayabyab went online last night at 8 p.m. on his Facebook page to introduce and start off the concert. Sitting at home at his piano, the master songwriter engaged his online audience in song and virtual conversation, obliging requests and answering questions posed to him on FB.

Tune in to Mr. C’s FB page  https://www.facebook.com/myran.etorsa/videos/2760348940746696/Most of the participating artists will likewise have the concert on their FB pages.
