MANILA, Philippines (Update 1: March 14, 2020; 9:39 a.m.) — The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) count has been steadily rising throughout the past weeks, with twelve new confirmed cases on Friday, raising the country’s total to 64.
Since the Philippines first detected an infection in late January, five people have died from COVID-19 that emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. Four of the five virus-related deaths in the Philippines were reported this week.
President Rodrigo Duterte raised Code Red Sublevel 2 over COVID-19 on Thursday night, restricting access to Metro Manila as a form of quarantine for 30 days starting March 15.
Class suspensions throughout the nation's capital were prompted while workplaces rolled out work from home schedules for employees.
Local government units outside Metro Manila were also advised to impose localized community quarantine if certain conditions are met.
As the new pathogen continues its spread, here's a running list of class suspensions outside of NCR. Click here if you cannot view the LIVE list below.
