MANILA, Philippines — Thirty Filipino workers from Wuhan, China are set to be released from quarantine at the Athelete’s Village at New Clark City (NCC) in Capas, Tarlac today, the Department of Health (DOH) said yesterday.
According to DOH Assistant Secretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire, everything is ready for the 30 repatriates’ send-off ceremony.
Also to be released from quarantine are the 19 members of the repatriation team, from the DOH and Department of Foreign Affairs, six plane crewmembers, and three ground crew operators.
Vergeire noted that none of these individuals had manifested signs and symptoms of fever, cough or sore throat associated with coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) during their 14-day stay. Because of this, they will now be allowed to go back to their respective homes and places.
“We are glad that our repatriates are all well and safe from COVID-19. Our repatriation mission is not possible without the dedication and cooperation of the entire (Inter-Agency) Taskforce with all its member agencies. We are extremely grateful for the collective effort of the government,” she added.
The quarantine period started last Feb. 9, right after the Filipino workers and the repatriation team returned from Wuhan, the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreaks.
PUIs
This developed as the daily tracker of the DOH for COVID-19 revealed 41 new persons under investigation (PUIs) for possible infection. This raises to 597 the total number of PUIs nationwide.
Of the 597, there are 139 PUIs that remain admitted and isolated in different medical facilities, while another 455 have already recovered and have been discharged.
Data shows the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country remain at three – one death and two recoveries.
