‘Economic growth not far behind Sangley airport development’
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go has expressed optimism that the country will achieve economic growth this year following the inauguration and completion of the Sangley Airport Development Project (SADP) in Cavite over the weekend.
The airport is expected to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). It was supposed to be completed in March, but upon the directive of President Duterte, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade finished the project earlier than the set deadline.
“The completion of the SADP not only achieves another milestone in the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program of the Duterte administration, but will also help boost the country’s economic growth. As one of the key infrastructure projects of the BBB, the new airport will help improve the country’s tourism and aviation industry,” Go said.
In his speech during the SADP inauguration, Duterte commended Tugade for completing the project ahead of schedule and for wisely spending the government’s budget.
The airport’s facilities will initially cater to commercial cargo operations and will be used for general aviation and turboprop operations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
