MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) yesterday rescued two mentally impaired persons who were found imprisoned and left behind at a house in Batangas.

PCG spokesperson Captain Armand Balilo said that their personnel rescued two men.

Both of them were found locked up in a house in the municipality of Agoncillo, Batangas.

Balilo said their personnel, part of Task Force Taal, were conducting a patrol in Balibeweng, Agoncillo, Batangas when they received information from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of Batangas that two persons were abandoned during the evacuation.

The Coast Guard personnel searched for and were able to rescue the individuals. The two men underwent medical checkup and were brought to the Office of Civil Defense in Trece Martires in Cavite.

Balilo said that they would investigate why the two were locked up inside the house and determine who were responsible.
