2 Pinoys die in Singapore car crash
MANILA, Philippines — Two Filipinos were killed while four others were injured when a car crashed onto a roadside near a shopping mall in Singapore yesterday, according to a GMA News report.
“Specific details are being validated but yes, it appears that Filipino victims are involved,” said Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Ed Meñez.
The report, quoting Singapore’s The Strait Times, said the car crashed through a metal railing before landing on the side of Orchard Road next to the Lucky Plaza shopping center, hitting several pedestrians.
The fatalities were unconscious when they were rushed to the hospital, while four other wounded were conscious.
Police have arrested the 64-year-old driver, the report said.
Meñez said the Home Office in Manila is checking the latest information on the accident with the Philippine embassy, adding that all assistance will be provided to the victims.
