MANILA, Philippines — Expecting the delivery early next year of two Cobra attack helicopters from Jordan, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) has allotted P45.7 million for its needed maintenance and spare parts for the aircraft’s night targeting system.

The Jordanian government donated the high-end combat helicopters to the Philippines in September last year following the signing of a memorandum of agreement on defense cooperation between the two states.

This early, the PAF is looking for suppliers capable of providing these maintenance spare parts to keep the two helicopters combat ready even at nighttime under its integrated logistics support for Parts and Replacement Program Phase 1 (PRP1) of the AH-1 Night Targeting System.

The project is posted in the bid bulletin of the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System for PAF. Pre-bid conference is slated on Oct. 15 at the PAF Procurement Center Conference Room of Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. The deadline for bid submission and opening is scheduled on Oct. 28.

“The Philippine Air Force reserves the right to reject any and all bids, declare a failure of bidding or not award the contract at any time prior to contract award in accordance with Section 41 of Republic Act 9184 and its IRR, without thereby incurring any liability to the affected bidder or bidders,” said PAF bids and awards committee chair Brig. Gen. Carlo Bueno Buena, in the bid bulletin.

PAF pilots are undergoing flying training in Jordan for the Bell AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters – a two-blade, single-engine attack helicopter manufactured by the US-based Bell Helicopter.

A member of the Huey family, the helicopter is also referred to as the “Huey Cobra” or “Snake.”
