Is #Facebookdown? Hashtag trends on Twitter as users report problems

Facebook acknowledged the transcriptions, which were first reported by Bloomberg, telling the news agency in a statement that they were made with users’ permission, but that the practice has nonetheless been stopped.

MANILA, Philippines — The hashtag #Facebookdown trended on Twitter Philippines Sunday after several users complained that they were experiencing technical problems on the social networking site.

Facebook users took to Twitter to report the issues they were experiencing with the social media giant prompting the hashtag to make it to the top trending topics in the country since Sunday noon.

As of posting, Twitter recorded over 2,000 tweets about #Facebookdown.

A live outage map from website downdetector.ph, which reports the performance of Facebook worldwide in real-time, showed that the Philippines is among the countries that reported having issues with using Facebook.

Other countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, France, Hungary, Greece and United Kingdom also reported having Facebook problems.

The tech website said Facebook has been having issues since 9:28 a.m.

It added that users reported problems about logging in (48%), total blackout (38%) and usage of Facebook apps (12%).

The website downdetector.ph said Facebook users in the Philippines also experienced problems on Saturday evening.

The social media giant has yet to issue a confirmation or statement regarding the reported temporary Facebook outage.
