Egay to bring rains over Metro Manila, Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Egay is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon rains over Metro Manila and many parts of Luzon today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In a severe weather bulletin yesterday, PAGASA said light to moderate and at times heavy rains may prevail over the National Capital Region and many areas in Luzon due to the southwest monsoon.
Monsoon rains may also prevail over the Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol region, Antique and Aklan.
Residents in these places were advised to take precautionary measures, especially in areas identified to be at high risk of flooding and landslides.
Egay was estimated to be 820 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon as of 10 a.m. yesterday.
The low-pressure area seen east of Virac, Catanduanes developed into Tropical Depression Egay on Sunday night but PAGASA said it is not expected to make landfall.
It has maintained its strength heading northwest and is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday morning.
