BOC website hacked
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) yesterday confirmed an attack on its website.
In a statement, Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero said the hacking of their website might have been an attempt by criminals to derail their computerization program, which intends to promote efficiency, transparency and rid the bureau of graft and corruption.
He gave assurance that after a check on their system, the BOC’s electronic-to-mobile (e2m) system and six other newly launched systems remain intact and secure.
The BOC website is hosted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Although the attempted hacking did not disrupt the operations of the bureau, Guerrero said they have already coordinated with the National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-PH) under the Cybersecurity Bureau of the DICT to look into the matter.
The CERT-PH is mandated to provide pro-active government counter measures to address and anticipate all domestic and transnational incidents affecting Philippine cyberspace and any cyber-security threats to the country.?
