Cebu police chief to manage PCSO
MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte is set to appoint Cebu City’s female police chief as general manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Duterte yesterday confirmed that he would name Col. Royina Garma as PCSO general manager, replacing Alexander Balutan, who resigned last March.
“She is a woman, an Ilocana… Balutan has been out. Garma will succeed him,” Duterte told reporters during the movie premiere of “Kontradiksyon” at SM Megamall.
Balutan, a retired military general, said he resigned because he was asked to do something he could not stomach. He did not elaborate.
Malacañang, on the other hand, said Duterte had fired Balutan over corruption issues.
Balutan had come under fire for, among other things, holding a “lavish” Christmas party for the PCSO.
Garma retires from the service on June 30.
