MANILA, Philippines — Veteran actor Eddie Garcia suffered abnormalities in his blood pressure while in hospital confinement following an accident during a shoot for a television series.

Garcia, 90, “has been having episodes of hypotension (low blood pressure),” said his family’s spokesman Dr. Tony Rebosa in a text message before midnight yesterday.

His blood pressure “at the moment is now stable again,” he added.

The Makati Medical Center, where Garcia is confined in its intensive care unit, has not issued a medical bulletin since last Tuesday.

Garcia was said to have tripped during a shoot for a television series of GMA-7 in Tondo, Manila last Saturday. He was initially reported to have had a heart attack but doctors later clarified it was a case of cervical fracture.

The actor remains in a coma and was dramatically deteriorating even if he has been on life support, according to his partner, Lilibeth Romero.
