MANILA, Philippines (Update 2: May 13, 2019; 9:08 a.m.) — Around 61 million Filipinos are set to vote for the local and national elections on Monday, May 13.
The Commission on Elections launched a precinct finder website— https://www.gov.ph/web/precinctfinder— to let active voters, whether registered in the Philippines or overseas, know their assigned precinct and polling center ahead of the midterm polls.
There are 80,000 voting precincts nationwide.
The site was made by the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said the website has been running since Friday after earlier reports mentioned the website experienced glitches.
“This is to provide information on where the concerned voters need to go to vote on Election Day this coming 13 May 2019 National and Local Elections,” the website description read.
“The voter database that is used for this service is updated as of the last voter registration period in September 2018,” it added.
The platform requires voters to provide their first name, middle name, last name, province and city or municipality of registration in the provided fields.
Philstar.com tried using the platform on election day, Monday morning, but the list of provinces only showed 22 provinces—from Abra to Capiz.
It has reached out to @radyocomelec, which is supposed to assist voters in helping people find their respective polling places, via a direct message. But Radyo Comelec is yet to respond as of writing.
The poll body advised those who cannot access their records to contact local COMELEC office or the Foreign Service Post that has jurisdiction over the country of registration.
Voters may also call Comelec's 24-hour voter care hotline numbers for any concern:
